Day 7

Our final day on the boat. We were invited to bring our boat up to the last two locks just below Stoke Bruerne and tie up to along sideDavid and Ann's Amber Moon. This made a long walk into a very short stroll. We spent the afternoon checking out vintage narrow boats along with the different crafts and baked goods. A narrow boat with a giant swans head made its way into stoke with an amazing fiddle player at the front. We visited with several folks we met through the week and promised to keep in touch.
Sherri and I were exhausted. We decided to go back to the boat for a short nap before navigating the tunnel then the short trip back to the marina. We laid down at 3pm and woke up at 6pm. Didn't intend to sleep that long but we must have needed it.
David and Ann helped us untie and launch the boat. David walked up and operated the 1st lock. We had plenty of kids to help with the second.
The tunnel behind us, we decided to stop in Bilsworth. The town had a church, post office, and pub along with a mix of cottages, houses and at least one manor.
We fixed our dinner, then headed to the Marina. We pulled into Gayton at 10pm. Just enough light in the sky to see well enough to moor.
We had to vacate the boat by 9:30 the next morning.
so we packed and put the boat back in order.
Tomorrow, off to London.
